Interested in cohousing? Learn more about it from one of the people who (literally) wrote the book - Cohousing: A Contemporary Approach to Housing Ourselves.

East Portland Cohousing invites you to an informative slide presentation, "Introduction to Cohousing," presented by Kathryn McCamant of the Cohousing Company:

Friday, January 28, 7:00 p.m.
Mennonite Church of Portland*
1312 SE 35th Ave., Portland
One block north of Hawthorne
(*group is not church affiliated)

A $10 donation to East Portland Cohousing will be requested, but no one will be turned away.

For those interested in becoming involved in creating cohousing, on Saturday and Sunday, January 29 and 30, McCamant will facilitate "Getting it Built," a participatory workshop:
9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (approximate hours)
Southeast Uplift
3534 SE Main Street
(directly east of the Mennonite Church)

Registration fee is $125, $115 if received by 1/21.
You may sign up for this workshop the night of the slide show, providing spaces remain.

Thanks. Wish I could be there.

Of all the cities I've lived in Portland, Oregon is by far my favorite city. I love the culture and the people. The music, the crafts, and downtown. The best downtown I've ever seen.

            Cool! That's exciting, Angel.

I was at the bus tour of Bay Area cohousing yesterday, and I talked with someone there interested in PDX-area cohousing.

I also spoke with a City Repair organizer from up there at a recent "relocalization" event down here, and heard that several co-ho-model projects are underway up there.

Can you talk about the nature of the investments you're taking right now: from members only? What kind of risk/commitment level? What kind of amounts per person?

            raines
