My wife and I are looking for Co-housing or Co-op opportunities in Berkeley. I know that a few already exist but they are either full or not quite what we are looking for. Please let me know if there are any new openings in any type of community based housing.

Have you gotten on the Northern California Land Trust list? Several limited-equity coops work with them.
Also there's a YahooGroup called CoopNetwork and a directory of some on the BarringtonCollective website.
If you look just outside Berkeley's borders you'll find places like Mariposa Grove Cohousing that have openings, and North Oakland cohousing with a site.
Your message doesn't say which ones you know or what doesn't work about 'em for you.... sharing some of that might inspire others to give you extra guidance.
